Noble Aria, Golden Sword of the Sunrise |
Aria is a compact two-handed double-edged longsword nearly four feet in length. It is constructed entirely of celestium alloy. Its grip is layered with cured springwood and carved with an inscription on each side in an unknown ancient language.
Aria’s ricasso is decorated with a medallion bearing an engraved alto clef. The crossguard is shaped as a flame. The blade is smooth and undecorated, but is polished to a glowing finish on each side. The sword emanates a very slight heat at all times, and is always visible, even in total darkness.
Aria’s pommel is a delicate circular setting which can contain a single jewel approximately the size of an acorn. When first discovered, Aria’s pommel contains a spectacularly faceted citrine gem which seems to be the source of the magical flames which burst forth from the sword’s blade in battle. It wasn’t long before the Ajan Warriors noticed the yellow lens of the Chronicler’s Lantern is made from solid citrine as well, leading them to believe there might be a connection between Aria and the Chronicler’s Lantern.
Aria has the innate ability to transmute its form into a small celestium charm in the shape of an alto clef decorated with garnets. In its charm form, Aria has a number of powers, including the “Pure Light of the Sunrise,” which causes a blinding blast of intense white sunlight in all directions, and of course, by speaking the phrase “Noble Aria, Transform!” the keeper of the Aria Charm can cause it to transmute into sword form, even if the charm is not in physical contact with its keeper.
Alto Clef Ricasso Device: The battle symbol of the Warrior of the Sunrise is the alto clef like the one carved into the ricasso of her golden sword. It is an ancient mythical symbol which signifies wisdom in the pursuit of victory, and is often associated with officers or leaders on the battlefields of Aventar. It is also a musical symbol found in the written records of many ancient melodies. It is for this reason the Warrior of the Sunrise is known in Aventar lore as the Minstrel or Minstrel Warrior.
The alto clef device is also boldly emblazoned on the back and shoulders of the Sunrise Warrior’s cape, and on her raiment necklace as well. Her battle arms and banner symbol also include a golden alto clef, which signifies generosity in the pursuit of wisdom and victory.
