About Heavy Cat Studios

adyStar: Jessica Hoshi and the Ajan Warriors is the story of seven girls who discover priceless treasures that transmute into magical weapons and give them incredible powers. You can begin reading the new story at the Prologue.
LadyStar: Jessica Hoshi and the Ajan Warriors is a free color webcomic and updates on Mondays and Thursdays. Each comic page includes an article about the lore and history of the world of Aventar and the powers, attacks and defenses of the Ajan Warriors. Also included with the comic are articles on how LadyStar was produced, including artists and writer’s notes, behind-the-scenes information on page design, character and creature design, and exclusive sketchbook illustrations, previews and highlights from previous projects.
LadyStar™ is a production of Heavy Cat Studios, established by Heavy Cat Multimedia to develop top-quality character designs and illustrations for creative projects. In 2008, Heavy Cat Studios published LadyStar: The Fury of the Venom Legion, a 28-page full color fantasy-adventure webcomic with an audience of over 10,000 readers each month. Both LadyStar webcomics are proud members of the Palace in the Sky Publishing fantasy-adventure gateway.
Heavy Cat Studios Creative Team
Humbug – Senior Page Designer and Commander of the Robot Armies: Humbug designs the pages for the LadyStar webcomic series, and is also responsible for a great many of the warrior, villain, creature and weapon designs. She is also the artist and creator of both the popular Tales of Pylea and Tales of Pylea: Crux webcomic series.
Cube – Senior Ink and Creature Maker: Sugarcube, a.k.a Cube, adores creature design and makes passable attempts at mechanical design despite the lack of any scientific capability. If she had an addiction, it would be music and good books. Is den-mother to two siblings, works part-time when she isn’t planted before the computer, dabbles in photography and jewelry-making, and is currently working on improving digital painting techniques.
KEZ – Senior Ink and Digital Weaponsmith: KEZ lives in upstate New York with her family, her husky-mutt, and iguana. She recently graduated with a B.S. and is looking forward to attending medical school with the goal of being a surgeon. When not studying biochemistry (or some other aggravatingly intricate science), she can be found writing or illustrating her fantasy novel and webcomic, The War of Winds.
Gammyun – Senior Colorist, Environment Designer and Adobe Flash® Programmer: Gammyun lives in Barrie, Ontario where she teaches digital art and runs a local manga club. She’s addicted to collecting obscure art books and other nerdish enterprises such as conlanging, sound poetry, and tracking progress at the LHC. She’s obsessed with her tablet pc and always on the lookout for quiet corners with an outlet to sketch in. In her spare time she can usually be found working on her epic webcomic Juathuur.
Mayshing – Senior Ink, Colorist and Animator: “I am an ambitious artist who wishes for my art to impact culture. I am working hard toward my dream.
Manga is my life, and I love animation and illustration. I love good, challenging art in general, plus pumpkin pie and coffee.”
Mayshing is the artist and creator of the E-Depth Angel web manga.
Animetor – Assistant Ink: “I loved watching animations ever since a child, and studied hard to achieve my dreams. Up to now I have had valuable experience working with some companies dealing in comics and animation. I enjoy drawing in manga/anime style the most, and created a few comics of my own. My favourite things are plushies, Fantasy & Sci-fi novels and A&W’s root beer.”
Animetor is the artist and creator of Magician’s Quest and Shinigami Odin.
Emily – Assistant Ink and Color, Skillet Melee Instructor: “Emily is a professional painter, illustrator and art tutor, and lives in her attic studio in sunny England. Her main interests are mythology, story telling …and faeries. Mostly faeries actually. Emily’s artwork and webcomics can be found at Footloose.
Cat – Writer and Producer: Cat developed the original script, story and characters for the LadyStar series, which has been published as a browser-based adventure game, print manga, episodic visual novel, three webnovels, two webcomics, and an Adobe® Flash® Spot-the-Difference Game.
The LadyStar characters were optioned for a 26-episode television series and have been considered for adaptation for a feature OAV.
Cat seeks to one day adapt fiction for the web as successfully as comics, and spends a fair amount of time composing new chapters for the Ajan Champions Webnovels.
Favorite Quote: “With words alone, I have an unlimited special effects budget.”

LadyStar webcomic sites are constructed for current-generation browsers. The latest version of Firefox is recommended by dragon wizards, girl warriors and magical birds everywhere!”

Hi everyone, I´m Kei-Kun, creator of the online manga Alien Defender Maky (www.aliendefendermaky.com).
I write to you because I want to make good friends with all of you, fellow webcomic artist. Even though I may not know you or your art, the fact that you had enough determination to create your comics, make me feel that there´s a lot of people defending their dreams in this world where dreaming is almost prohibit because of work and all the issues that you can see on the news everyday.
I want to say to all of you that there´s still hope for those who still stand for their dreams, and we can make this world a better place with our talent without a doubt.
God bless you all…and I hope to get to know about you soon. Take care!
