Heavy Cat Studios Creative Team
Humbug - Senior Page Designer: Humbug designs the pages for the LadyStar webcomic series, and is also responsible for a great many of the warrior, villain, creature and weapon designs. She is also the artist and creator of both the popular Tales of Pylea and Tales of Pylea: Crux webcomic series.
Cube - Senior Ink and Creature Design: Sugarcube, a.k.a Cube, adores creature design and makes passable attempts at mechanical design despite the lack of any scientific capability. If she had an addiction, it would be music and good books. Is den-mother to two siblings, works part-time when she isn’t planted before the computer, dabbles in photography and jewelry-making, and is currently working on improving digital painting techniques.
Mayshing - Assistant Ink and Colorist: “I am an ambitious artist who wishes for my art to impact culture. I am working hard toward my dream.
Manga is my life, and I love animation and illustration. I love good, challenging art in general, plus pumpkin pie and coffee.” Mayshing is the artist and creator of the E-Depth Angel web manga.
KEZ - Senior Ink and Mechanical Design: KEZ lives in upstate New York with her family, her husky-mutt, and iguana. She recently graduated with a B.S. and is looking forward to attending medical school with the goal of being a surgeon. When not studying biochemistry (or some other aggravatingly intricate science), she can be found writing or illustrating her fantasy novel and webcomic, The War of Winds.
Gammyun - Senior Colorist: Gammyun lives in Barrie, Ontario where she teaches digital art and runs a local manga club. She’s addicted to collecting obscure art books and other nerdish enterprises such as conlanging, sound poetry, and tracking progress at the LHC. She’s obsessed with her tablet pc and always on the lookout for quiet corners with an outlet to sketch in. In her spare time she can usually be found working on her epic webcomic Juathuur.
Lires - Assistant Colorist: “I’m a mangaka wannabe. My passion and heart belongs to art. I’ve been in the comics business for 7 months now. Although i just started in digital arts last year, so i’m still finding ways on how to improve and improve.
My ultimate goal is to see my titles being animated and shown on tv. ^_^ I love manga so much that i gave up my band for it.. lol. I also want to create a unique manga style that my country could follow since comics here in my nation doesn’t really get that much support. Instead they pull artists down. Sad but true, but i’m still determined. Gambate!”
Cat - Writer and Producer: Cat developed the original script, story and characters for the LadyStar series, which has been published as a browser-based adventure game, print manga, episodic visual novel, and two webcomics.
Cat also recently adapted the LadyStar story into two complete novels: The Dreamspeaker and The Palace in the Sky and portions of a third, Call of the Huntress, all of which were published as chapter-by-chapter “webnovels” on a blog-style website in 2007 and early 2008. The characters have also been considered for both an animated television series and animated feature DVD project.
A staunch believer in the writer’s advantage of having an unlimited special effects budget, Cat seeks to one day adapt fiction for the web as successfully as comics.
