Yet a powerful presence now follows them. Is it another evil minion of the Cryptics or is it an ally they can join forces with? Here begins the next adventure in the epic LadyStar saga. LadyStar: Fury of the Venom Legion
A Full-Color Featured Free Webcomic presented by Heavy Cat Studios
Takes place within the same time period as the Jessica Hoshi and the Ajan Warriors webcomic
Read Fury of the Venom Legion!
The battle has raged for nearly 800 years, triggered by an act of appalling treachery and dividing a betrayed people one against the other. The shadows of the Darkening have plagued the hopes of the survivors ever since. Even now, the Cryptics scour the land, in search of the remnants of a forgotten age of justice, and seeking to extinguish once and for all the last flame of peace.
Each Cryptic is a master of sorcerous and foul energies. The origin of their power is unknown, but whatever feeds their rapacity gives them dominion over sometimes vast armies of lethal minons. Even His Majesty’s finest knights scatter at the first sign of a Cryptic’s presence, leaving none to defend the innocent against legions that leave only destruction and suffering in their wake.
Yet hope remains. The six legendary Ajan Treasures have somehow eluded the grasp of the Cryptic Sai Magnen, who has pursued them to the desolate wastes known as the Chaer Shales. It is here, in the blackened and scorched Isian Badlands that the outcome of eight centuries of conflict may turn. The keepers of the Ajan Treasures must now face their greatest test. Jessica Hoshi and the Ajan Warriors must face the Fury of the Venom Legion.

The History of the LadyStar Project
LadyStar has been in continuous development since 2000, when the characters and story world were first developed as part of a shareware PC adventure game called the “LadyStar zStory™ Adventures.” LadyStar was one of the first “persistent browser-based games” (PBBG) and supported scorekeeping, inventory and puzzles in an original Javascript game engine with the adventure modules written in XML. Over 9,500 zStory™ games were downloaded between 2000 and 2002.
In 2002, as the story world grew, an original script was adapted to a 74-page print manga, LadyStar: The Relic of Battle, and soon thereafter the characters and story were optioned for a 26-episode television series.
In 2005, the first book in the LadyStar story was developed as a Visual Novel in Adobe Flash® format. LadyStar: Reflections in a Dream went on to become the most popular feature on the LadyStar site with over 29,000 volume downloads.
In 2006, the LadyStar story was adapted into four novel manuscripts. Heavy Cat Multimedia launched a new web site called “The Magical and Mysterious World of LadyStar,” and LadyStar: The Dreamspeaker became one of the first, if not the first, complete work of original fiction to be initially published on a blog.
In 2008, Heavy Cat Studios was formed, and a team of six artists began work on the premiere color LadyStar webcomic, Fury of the Venom Legion. The Studio Team completed Part One in August, 2008, after going a perfect 28 weeks without missing a single update.
In the Fall of 2008, LadyStar joined the Palace in the Sky Webcomic Association after Fury of the Venom Legion marked its 250,000th reader.
In 2009, “The Magical and Mysterious World of LadyStar” was expanded to four sites, each hosting its own volume of the LadyStar saga. “The Ajan Champions” is home to the LadyStar webnovels, while Jessica Hoshi and the Ajan Warriors and Fury of the Venom Legion each have their own webcomic sites. The characters also present all the LadyStar news in the “Tree Shores High School Band Room.”
“Me and my sister love the art and story plot. We check this site every day.”
– Bara
The LadyStar network of web sites now exceeds a combined 15,000 unique visits each month.

It’s more swords and armor than wands and scepters, but our characters definitely have spectacular battle powers. If you like monsters, adventure and action, you’ll enjoy the upcoming webnovels and comics.
