The Professor of Musicness

“I’m telling you, this is one area she is not a Goofy Doofus.”

“Alright, alright, let’s see if she knows her stuff. Goofy!”

“Miss Shannon over here tells me you’re the resident music knowledge champ. I’ve got a couple of questions for you.”

“Okay, first question. What’s the most famous piece of music ever composed in five-four time?”

“Easy. ‘Theme from Mission Impossible’. Lalo Schifrin composed it.”

“Okay, okay, that was an easy one. Let’s try something tougher.”

“Transpose E-flat alto saxophone to concert pitch.”

“Oh, yeah. Why not ask her what color the sky is?”

“Transpose B-flat tenor saxophone to concert pitch, then.”

“Transpose E-flat baritone saxophone for bass clef!”

“How many operas did he write?”

“Please don’t ask her to name them.”

“Recite the circle of fifths!”

“C, G, D, A, E, B, G-flat, D-flat, A-flat, E-flat, B-flat, F.”

“Amazing! She’s supposed to be a doofus, but instead she’s the Professor of Musicness!”

“She ever gets on ‘Jeopardy!’ and the final question is about music, we’re all going to be rich.”
