Daphne Benning is a member of Tree Shores’ award-winning Tall Flag team. She became most enthusiastic about being a part of the team in her freshman year when the Lions Band won a Sweepstakes award (best in their class) at a very large parade competition against two dozen other schools. She earned her place as the only non-upperclassman to be named a squad leader by leading cheers on the bus for all 100 miles of the trip home from the parade.

Daphne and Shannon Ka Yoru are best friends, and have known each other since junior high school, where they both took the same art and sports classes. Daphne is amazed by Shannon’s understated drawing talent and often asks Shannon to draw something “cool” for her book covers, especially horses.

Daphne and Jessica Hoshi first meet at Doubler’s Pizza at the conclusion of summer band rehearsals. They immediately become great friends after finding out they both are very accomplished at the dancing video game in Doubler’s arcade. They spend most of the afternoon together trying out all of the new music and learning the new dance steps.

Daphne can sometimes be a little insistent about things, since she has seven older brothers. She is also very athletic and competitive. She hates to lose, and can be quite emotional about competition.

Daphne lives with her family in a very large house in North Shore.
