Jessica Hoshi is a cheerful, optimistic, and slightly silly 14-year-old girl who is just starting high school. She can’t wait to be a part of her new school’s music program and to perform with the marching band in parades and at football games.

On her first day of summer rehearsals, she meets Talitha Hayashi, a shy girl who becomes Jessica’s best friend.
