The Warrior of the Night’s Crossbow

Although the Starlight Huntress prefers to do battle from a distance where her powerful longbow is most effective, there are times when she is forced to close range. In battles like these, she relies on her snares and her crossbow.

The Warrior of the Night’s crossbow is designed to be her off-hand weapon. It gives her a second line of fire at distance, and has a devastating punch at short ranges. The weapon itself is an over-under mechanism which can be double-loaded and fired with a rocker-trigger. Its maximum effective range is 35 yards, but it has no minimum effective range, and its pull is balanced for high power point blank shots as well as ranged combat.

It has a cedar stock with steel-reinforced silver fittings. As double-crossbows go, it is an extraordinarily light weapon, although it is roughtly three times the size of what most bowyers would consider a true hand-crossbow. It is loaded with a pedal-operated pulling mechanism which the Night Warrior carries in her shoulder pack. Although the weapon can fire full-size steel bolts, the Huntress is known to carry sharpened bolts made of pure silver which can be enchanted.
